Photographing the volcano eruption in Meradalir

A new volcano eruption started in early August in Meradalir near Fagradalsfjall in Iceland. We went there to photograph the eruption and had a great time. The hike to the eruption took just over two hours one way and was worth it. We used DJI Mavic 3 and Mini 3 Pro, plus the Nikon Z7ii. This eruption is a continuation of the eruption in Geldingadalir last year, and since scientists now believe this will be a series of eruptions in the Reykjanes peninsula, they are coming up with the name Fagradalsfjallseldar. The name suggests both the general location of the eruptions, since Geldingadalir, where the eruption was in 2021 and the eruption now in Merardalir belong to the Fagradalsfjall mountain. Both eruptions are valleys in the Fagradalsfjall mountain, hence the name “Fagradalsfjalls fires.”
