Ljósavatn is a large lake located in Ljósavatnsskarð Pass. It covers an area of about 3.2 km² and is a short distance from the popular tourist destination Goðafoss. A section of the national road runs past the lake, and it’s common to see Common loons, Horned grebe, Tufted duck, Eurasian widgeon, and many other bird species in and around the lake.
